The Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education) has featured the need to take coordinated effort between universities and the industry to the next level by empowering the latter to lead curriculum design and delivery through partnership models which include apprenticeships, hands-on training, real-life simulations and specialised employer training programmes as major TVET agenda.

Most academicians and industry players are on the same page with regards to joint effort. The benefits are numerous via the enhancement of research and innovation through joint research projects, delivery of innovative commercial products, improvements in teaching, learning and enrichment of students’ knowledge and their employability, as well as providing new streams of funding to tertiary institutions.

COVID-19 pandemic has had profound impact on education sector. Knowledge and skills delivery become a challenging task to all academicians. Although many academic units have also started blended learning, when it comes to skills and hands-on training a lot of them are facing problems with old procedures. Traditional pedagogical approach is no longer relevant and no option but to shift entirely to online platform.
