SWEET SCIENCE: A STEM EXPLORATION OF HONEY IN SUSTAINABLE SKINCARE AND FOOD SOLUTIONS WITH STUDENTS FROM SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEBANGSAAN SUNGAI ISAP MURNI
28 October 2025 - The Process Systems Engineering and Safety (ProSES) Research Cluster, Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), brought the magic of STEM to life through an exciting CSR program with Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Isap Murni under the Geran Inovasi Sosial Universiti dan Pemindahan Ilmu Komuniti UMPSA. Led by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Ruwaida Abdul Rasid, the program gathered 100 students, 10 UMPSA lecturers, 3 international postgraduate students, and 20 teachers and staff, all coming together to explore the science behind everyday products, with honey as the star ingredient. During the program, the students were divided into groups of five. Each group was assigned two hands-on tasks: the formulation of lotion and the preparation of a granular bar, using the kits provided. A heartfelt thank you to YBrs. Encik Shahrul Nizam bin Bakar, Pengetua SMK Sungai Isap Murni, all the dedicated teachers, and the enthusiastic students for their warm welcome, active participation, and wonderful cooperation throughout the program. Your energy and curiosity truly made the day a memorable success!
