UMPSA STUDENTS AND STAFF PARTICIPATE IN SEGTA 2025 AT UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA

A delegation of 12 students and 2 academic staff from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) successfully participated in the Sustainable Energy and Green Technology Applications (SEGTA) 2025 program, hosted by the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (FTMM), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), from 6–14 August 2025.

The student participants comprised 10 from the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP) and 2 from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Mohd Hafizuddin bin Wan Yussof and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Syed Mohd Saufi bin Tuan Chik.

SEGTA 2025 brought together students and staff from Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and several other countries, creating a vibrant international platform for academic exchange, collaboration, and cultural understanding. Over the nine-day mobility program, delegates participated in academic lectures, laboratory activities, community development projects, field studies, and cultural visits across Surabaya, Sumenep, Gili Iyang Island, and Bromo Mountain.

Participants attended expert-led sessions covering a wide range of renewable energy and green technology topics, including solar technology, electric vehicles, drone applications, and sustainable agriculture. These lectures and practical sessions provided valuable insights into current research and technological advances, reinforcing the program’s role as a flagship initiative for knowledge sharing and innovation.

SEGTA 2025 is a highly impactful and well-organized event that highlighted its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action)

For UMPSA students, SEGTA 2025 proved to be more than just an academic journey. The program fostered greater awareness of sustainable practices and SDG-driven initiatives, while also offering rich opportunities for cross-cultural exchange, networking, and collaboration with peers and professionals from diverse backgrounds. Such experiences are expected to inspire students to contribute meaningfully to global sustainability challenges and to strengthen UMPSA’s role in advancing international partnerships.
