EMPOWERING INDUSTRY EXCELLENCE - SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING ESSENTIALS: FAST-TRACK TRAINING FOR INDUSTRY OPERATORS AND TECHNICIANS
On November 13, the Separation and Transport Cluster of the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) hosted Chemical Engineering Essentials: Fast-Track Training for Industry Operators and Technicians. This programme aimed to strengthen university-industry relations and boost the competencies of professionals in the chemical sector.
The event was inaugurated by AP Ts Dr. Rohayu binti Jusoh, Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies FTKKP, who emphasized UMPSA's commitment to delivering advanced, practical training tailored for industry professionals. The one-day event drew participants from top industrial companies, including BASF Petronas Sdn. Bhd., Tosoh Chemical Sdn. Bhd., Petronas Chemical Sdn. Bhd., and Optimistic Organic Sdn. Bhd., underscoring robust academic-industry partnerships.
Participants benefited from four expert-led technical sessions, including:
• Material and Energy Balance: Presented by AP Dr. Mazrul Nizam bin Abu Seman, covering foundational principles of material balance in chemical processes.
• Phase Diagram & Steam Table: AP Ts Dr. Siti Kholijah Abd Mudalip explored the use of phase diagrams and steam tables for predicting phase behavior in multicomponent systems.
• Distillation & Bubble and Dew Point Calculations: AP Ir Dr. Syed Mohd Saufi bin Tuan Chik discussed essential distillation principles, focusing on bubble and dew point calculations.
• Heat Exchanger Principles: Prof Ts Dr. Jolius Gimbun concluded with a session on thermal management and heat exchanger design fundamentals.
