EMPOWERING DIGITALIZATION AND INDUSTRY REVOLUTION 4.0 IN ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
Associate Prof. Ts Dr. Mohd Rusllim bin Mohamed (UMP), a CEO UMP Advanced Education Sdn. Bhd presented the way forward of TVET education in Malaysia and the responsibilities of Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) and Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT) to strengthen the TVET education. The second speaker, Ir. Fadzrul Izwan bin Muhd Ali, a Principal Engineer from Group Technical Solutions, PETRONAS shared the importance of process simulation as a tool for chemical engineers to facilitate the future working under remote autonomous operation in the chemical industry. Prof. Dr. Ulrich Trägner, a guest professor from Hochschule Mannheim, Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, delivered a lecture on Overview on digitalization and IR 4.0 in Germany Engineering Technology Education.
The evening session for these two-day workshop focuses on the critical curriculum review by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Trägner. Several subjects were selected to get his opinion on the implementation of digitalization in those subjects. Mr. Jonas Berge who is the Sr. Director – Applied Technology of Emerson Automation Solutions in Asia Pacific, presented the current technologies of smart sensor and data analytics for digital transformation in chemical industries. Mr. Zu Jian Lim from BASF PETRONAS Chemicals shared the current digital technology applied in BASF such as augmented reality, virtual reality (Hololens), and data analytics.
